"Jump on Board!" - Victoria Marine Rescue Society's fundraising Campaign

The VMRS has launched a comprehensive and well focused fundraising campaign. Our intent is to raise the organization's visibility in the community and increase public and corporate awareness of the important service we provide. We are confident that a public and corporate sector that is much more aware of the community need that we meet, will be forthcoming with increased donations and/or sponsorships to help us meet our funding target.

New Rescue Vessel Project

$570,000 or 88% !!

In response to the critical need to expand Victoria's marine search and rescue capability, the Victoria Marine Rescue Society with the support of the Canadian Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary - Pacific has launched a campaign to raise $645,000 for the purchase and operation of a new fast response vessel to serve the Victoria, Esquimalt, and West Shore waterfronts and the surrounding waters of Juan de Fuca Strait. In an environment of greatly increased commercial and recreational activity on the water, VMRS recognizes a pressing need to replace it's eight meter rigid hull inflatable with a new all weather vessel. This will increase our capacity to respond to medical evacuations, missing person searches, boating emergencies, and large scale disasters.

Some highlights of this vessel will be:

  • Four person crew
  • Ability to respond over a larger area
  • Enclosed cabin to protect our crews against elements
  • Capacity for 50 passengers
  • Stable first aid platform
  • Fire-fighting & self-righting capabilities
  • Maneuverable
  • Fast response (30+ knots)
