Commitment Policy
While all Station 35 members are volunteers, this does not diminish the importance of providing a qualified and reliable marine rescue service. Therefore, all members are required to:
- Commit to a duty crew (or possibly a spare to cover others when needed) and go on call for every rotation
- Find a member to cover all or part of a rotation they must miss due to work or family issues
- Be active in and complete the minimum training within a set time frame (New Crew - 3 months, Basic Crew - 2 years)
Stage 1: Recruit Crew - Requirements prior to approving an application for membership.
Member ApplicationIf you are interested in possibly joining Station 35, please attend one of our monthly meetings. After the meeting our station recruiting officer will meet with you and go over everything in detail.
In order to ensure commitment to the station, all applicants are required to attend a total of 3 station activities prior to their application being approved, and requires on average 2-3 months. Once your application is submitted, it will go through an approval process at the CCGA-P office and you will receive your membership number and card within 1-2 weeks. You will then be eligible for the New Crew Course, held 1-2 times per year depending on crewing requirements. Come out and see why so many great people volunteer with Victoria Marine Rescue! You won't regret it.
| Stage 2: New Crew - Eligible to begin on-the-water training and join a crew as a trainee SAR member
